Services
A termite inspection is a visual inspection of a home for evidence of wood-destroying insects.
Subterranean termites homes are usually formed in soil.
Within these mounds, termites build elaborate tunnel systems and mud tunnels through which they access above-ground food sources.
Drywood termites live within the wood they consume and oftentimes infest walls and furniture.
For this reason and others, the inspector will visually inspect the entire interior of a home including accessing and entering any sub-space such as basements and crawlspaces, also the and exterior of the property.
A termite inspection is typically an expense borne by the buyer, but it's worth the price.
Termites eat wood from the inside out.
That means they leave very little evidence of their presence until an infestation is pretty far along.
Because the warning signs can be subtle, it will probably take an expert to recognize them.
A large termite colony feasting on the wood in a home can consume a pound of cellulose a day but it's usually much less.
That can lead to structural damage you won't want to deal with.
Drill and Treat: Drill small holes into the infested wood, and then inject registered termiticide into the termite galleries.
The termiticide will follow the galleries, killing present termites.
Applying Tim-bor, a registered termiticide, onto bare, unpainted wood.
As a "pre-treat", you will not have to worry about fumigating in the future as the product is absorbed into the wood.
Subterranean termites enter structures by building mud tubes.
Once their mud tubes are built, the travel to their feeding areas and back to their nest.
Bedbugs are bloodsucking insects and the blood they suck is yours.
Rarely, will they use a pet as a host.
They are usually nocturnal, active at night just before dawn, with a peak feeding period 1 - 2 hours before sunrise.
Bed Bugs may attempt to feed at other times and have been observed feeding during the day.
The heavier the infestation, the greater chance of seeing bed bugs during the daylight hours.
They reach their host by walking, or sometimes climb the walls to the ceiling and drop down on the host when they feel a heat source.
Honeybee hives have long provided humans with honey and beeswax.
Such commercial uses have spawned a large beekeeping industry, though many species still occur in the wild.
Carpenter bees prefer unpainted, weathered wood, especially softer varieties such as redwood, cedar, cypress and pine.
Painted or pressure-treated wood is much less susceptible to attack.
Common carpenter bee nesting sites include eaves, rafters, fascia boards, siding, wooden shake roofs, decks and outdoor furniture.
Also called killer bees -- are descendants of southern African bees imported in 1956 by Brazilian scientists attempting to breed a honey bee better adapted to the South American tropics.
